CCACG RESPONDS TO NEWPORT GRAND SALE

CCACG Board Meeting

NEWPORT – Citizens Concerned About Casino Gambling released the following statement following the announcement that Newport Grand will be sold to Twin River Management Group.

CCACG President Liz Taber said:

“We note that Twin River Management Group stated they will not pursue a ballot measure in the 2016 election cycle. However, we will remain active and engaged to ensure that they honor their pledge to our community. We will also continue to work to promote policies to help small businesses and support sustainable economic development projects.”

The group’s next meeting will be held at the Newport Public Library on Saturday, March 7 at 10am.

Citizens Concerned About Casino Gambling is a Newport nonprofit dedicated to stopping the establishment and expansion of gambling in the city. Established in 1977, CCACG has a long history of success fighting gambling in Newport, including a 1980 attempt to turn Newport’s Goat Island into “Monte Carlo.”
